Various updates

The trail through Fremont, and under the Fremont bridge and the Aurora overpass, has been closed for at least a year(?), and will be closed for a while longer yet I think. More repairs to bridge structures or something. Bikers must detour onto the road for a few blocks in that area for now. Anyway, I have not been through the pet puddle section in a long time; I hope it is still draining properly. I'll report on it when that section of trail reopens.

In other news, the Ride in the Rain Challenge was again a success this past January. It was mentioned in the PI.

Lastly, I have noticed of late a lot of drivers using a section of roadway that has long been designated as bikes-only; the area is the eastbound lane of NE 40th Street more or less between the I-5 and University Bridge overpasses. The street is clearly painted with bike-lane symbols, and the eastbound lane is blocked with a concrete curb at the intersection with 7th Avenue NE. Cars are not allowed there. People heading west sometimes decide they don't feel like waiting in the line of cars backed up at the stop sign and make a U-turn, or they slip around the concrete barrier and drive up the bike lane. They often seem to take umbrage at cyclists in their way. If I get a picture of anyone driving along there I'll post it here, preferably with a clear shot of the license plate.
